I am not (fill in the blank) enough

At Dream Dance Fitness, we host two showcases a year, and we always hear those excuses on why students don’t want to perform.

I am not good enough, I am not strong enough, I am scared, I need to get a little better, maybe next year, and the list goes on. If our studio teaches you anything, it is that YOU ARE WORTHY. YOU ARE ENOUGH. Do not stifle your creative expression! Be grateful for how your body currently is, how lucky you are to lift yourself up on a pole, or whisk away through movement, aligning your body and mind through our classes. The showcase is a way where you can express yourself without trying to be perfect. It is a place of support from the friends you made at the studio, the friends of friends that support what you do without the criticism. It’s a place where you can denounce the scrutiny and embrace the joy of how you just did that, and you were witnessed in a way where you were your most embodied self. That’s powerful. That does wonders for the soul.

Don’t talk yourself out of it. Of course, there will be hesitations that creep up, working through those hesitations is what makes you stronger. Facing your fears and giving yourself permission to be seen is something that you will soon realize is a transformative experience, and hell, maybe you’ll get addicted to performing one day. I hope this inspired you to pursue creative expression, don’t let those limiting beliefs be your reality.

Happy dancing,
