Your Body Loves You. Love It Back!

Our theme this month is self-love. I want to discuss this week how our bodies have an incredible capacity to love and be loved. Despite the pressures of society, don’t forget that your body is a vessel for limitless strength and possibility – it’s uniquely yours to nurture with compassion! We tend to use our minds for everything and forget about our bodies. But, our bodies need love too!

Our bodies can be a source of joy, power, and liberation when we learn to nourish them with love. It sounds like such an easier-said-than-done sentiment on the surface, but showing gratitude for our bodies is something we can practice every day–and it’ll make us stronger mentally, emotionally, and physically.

Here are some tips on how you can move closer toward self-acceptance through self-love:

1. Start your day with a positive affirmation

Take a moment to appreciate yourself in the mirror. When we look in the mirror we tend to notice our flaws instead of noticing our qualities we do admire. You are amazing and deserve every bit of love, admiration, and respect! Recognize your beauty – inside-out; trust that you possess remarkable intelligence; embrace your sexiness with confidence; acknowledge all of the accomplishments so far achieved and those yet to come by remaining capable through it all. You can start small, and start with your face. Instead of noticing what you want to change, maybe say, “I love the color of my eyes, or I love my eye shape.” Then tomorrow, you can repeat that, and add on a different quality you love. Words have power. So, use the word love. Let me know after a few days if you’ve noticed a difference! Hit reply, or catch me in the hallway at Dream Dance Fitness!

2. Take time for yourself, even if it’s just 10 minutes each day

Our students prioritize their well-being by carving out time to dance! By getting away from the noise and chaos of everyday life, they have a chance to express themselves as well as build an invaluable connection between mind, body, and spirit. Don’t have an hour? Take 10 minutes. Even if it’s in the bathroom before you head out to your household with screaming children, or in your car before you enter the house. Take the 10 minutes. Breathe.

3. Step outside of your comfort zone and try something new!

Unleash the power within you through pole dancing – an art form that allows us to cultivate confidence in our minds and body with every movement. Rediscover yourself as you learn these movements and discover a newfound strength from deep within!

Leave a comment, and let me know if you are going to try some of these tips. Or, let me know after you’ve tried them for a week, and notice a positive change. We deserve to love ourselves first. Make yourself a priority.

XOXO,

Tash
