Can you find abundance in what’s already yours?

Can you fnd abundance in what’s already yours? We have a tendency to keep looking for more outside of what you already have. But, have you ever thought to stop and appreciate what you already have?

9 times out of 10, we can find ourselves wanting more or comparing your lifestyles to others, and wondering, what about me? Why don’t I have X. But, something that we tend to forget is the transformative power of gratitude. Gratitude is not only a feeling but also a mindset that can govern your entire life. Just think about your life right now, in this current moment. 5 or 10 years ago, you were hoping to be right where you are…so it’s time to be grateful and appreciate what you currently have as you literally wished for this. Sometimes, it’s powerful to just appreciate what you once wished for.

We can dig a little deeper and explore the power of gratitude and how cultivating a grateful heart can positively transform your life.

Improved Health
Gratitude has been shown to have a direct link to your overall health. According to numerous studies, when you cultivate gratitude, you experience less physical pain, better sleep, and a reduced risk of serious health problems like heart disease. This can be attributed to the fact that practicing gratitude triggers the release of dopamine and serotonin in the brain, which are natural chemicals that make you feel good. So, by being grateful for what you have, you are actually doing your body good. When it comes to our body and movement…we truly already have so much to offer right as we currently are. If I could only have a $1 for every time someone said they needed to get in shape first before they pole danced with us, or that they needed to go to the gym before they visited us, I would probably be a multi-millionaire! Our bodies hold so much wisdom…get out of your head, and into your body. Appreciate that vessel that helps us move…and I hope to see you in class soon!

Better Relationships
Grateful people are naturally more empathetic and less likely to hold grudges, which ultimately strengthens relationships. When you take time to thank those around you for the small things, even if you mentally do this, it fosters a deep sense of appreciation that can improve even troubled relationships. Being grateful for the people in your life can also help to deepen the connections that you have. I recently over a few months, did an exercise around some relationships. I took a few relationships that I either thought were troubled, or that I just wanted to make stronger, or just simply appreciate and got their picture of their face and made a grateful relationship album on my phone. And everyday, I would look at their face, and thank them for being my friend/mother/husband/coworker, and thank them for the small things they did for me, or do in general. And, I did this over several months. This truly made my internal relationship with them so much stronger without any conflict! They did not even know I was doing this, nor did they even need to be contacted. It was a simple trick that I did on my own, and I saw my relationships blossom.

Improved Mental Health
Gratitude is also a powerful tool for combating negative thoughts and emotions. By focusing on what you are grateful for, you can reframe negative thoughts and transform them into positive ones. This can help to improve your overall mood and mental state. Practicing gratitude also helps to reduce stress levels, which can make a huge difference in your daily life. Sometimes if there is a bad situation, or something that stresses me out…I try to think about 10 positive things about that situation and be thankful for them (maybe sometimes there’s not 10, but I try not to dwell on that).

Increased Resilience
Life is full of challenges and setbacks, but cultivating gratitude can help you to develop the resilience you need to overcome them. Focusing on what you are grateful for, can help put life’s problems into perspective and help you to find the silver lining in any situation. When you approach life with a grateful heart, you instantly become more resilient and better equipped to handle anything that comes your way.

Achieving Goals
Finally, cultivating gratitude can help you to achieve your goals. By focusing on what you are grateful for, you develop a positive and optimistic mindset that fuels your motivation to succeed. This ultimately helps you to achieve your goals and dreams. When you are grateful for what you have, you recognize the abundance in your life, which promotes an attitude of success and achievement.
